An Evaluation of High School Musical on Disney Channel

We all have seen some movies that have touched us in one way or another.

We also have our own unique ways of looking at movies.

These ways are influenced by the little quirks and idiosyncrasies that make us who we are.

The way we look at a movie often reflects our personalities so though a critic may try to remain objective and try to see something from different points of view, many people would still disagree with what he/she thinks.

With this in mind, read this movie critique of High School Musical, but do not take the opinions as your own.

For we all have our own minds, each one unique.

The TV movie ?High School Musical? was shown lately on Disney Channel.

High School Musical is one of those movies that people openly hate but secretly love.

You know what this means: it?s one of those movies that, while being watched, create a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Now while some people like feeling warm and fuzzy, our society frowns upon such feelings as weakness.

We mat try to deny it, but some people are uncomfortable feeling happy while watching a movie that admittedly has a very old plotline.

The ?you and me against the world? concept is ancient, dating back to even before Shakespeare (Although ?Romeo and Juliet? certainly seem to be the epitome of this plotline).

However, this doesn?t seem to stop people from continually supporting movies with this concept.

High School Musical succeeds in bringing life into this tired old plot by using songs to enhance the script.

Although, one could argue that this was done long ago in ?West Side Story?.

Thankfully though, nobody dies in this movie.

Some of the issues tackled in this movie are very relevant to the modern world.

The issue of parental relationships is one of these topics. Even today, parents still think that their dreams for their children should be the priority of the child.

High School, the stage where a child actually starts evolving into an individual, therefore becomes a battleground for the future of the child.

Although this plot too, is not at all new, children can still pretty much relate to the storyline.

There is also the ever-present issue of stereotyping.

Many teen-oriented shows today are dominated by the classification and stereotyping of different cliques.

While cliques are a natural part of life, the isolation of these groups from the natural society of High school is very wrong.

This isolation often leads to fights and misunderstandings.

But what causes this isolation? The separation of students from one another is often caused by people giving each other labels.

And we know that with labels come unjustified judgments.

The song ?stick to the status quo? deals with this issue by introducing the idea that no one is predictable.

You may try to attach certain characteristics and behavior to a person because of what he declares to be you will find out that you may be quite wrong.

Although a person may show one side of himself, you may not judge him until you have seen who he really is.

And you cannot judge a person within a short span of time. Some people spend decades together only to discover that they have not yet seen all the facets of their companion?s personality.

So the only answer to this is not to stick to the labels given by other people but be true.

Is the movie good or bad? You be the Judge.
