We tend to focus on the female but as the saying goes, it takes two, baby. :D Here's some advice from the Mayo Clinic on improving male fertility that also dispels some of the more common myths.

Do your sperm pass muster? Despite several months of effort, you and your partner haven't yet conceived. You're not ready to seek a fertility evaluation, but you might be wondering whether you're doing all you can to make sure you have healthy sperm. Male fertility depends on sperm quality and quantity, which can be affected by a variety of things. While you may not be able to control all the factors that could improve your fertility, there are steps you can take to maximize your fertility and make sure your sperm are top performers.

In full.

Do you think men still find this a hard subject to think or talk about or have times changed? Amongst the men I know it was never easy for them to but if you were discussing it relating to women they'd have no problem. Maybe it's a macho thing amongst the guys I know but I don't understand their reluctance.

I think any time you question a man's NATURAL ability towards anything, they get uncomfortable Tongue out  hubby says he thinks it's because men already have a sense of inferiority towards women, and to have to admit that they are less that standard at something, especially something that you are BORN with, is a huge kick to the ego.

He really said that men feel inferior to women, really? Wow, that surprises me. Maybe I just know more chauvinists LOL. I've never got that impression from any of them. The best you could hope for was to be considered an equal.

They do have bigger egos in my experience, but I think theirs is more fragile than ours. They just hide it better when it gets dented. Just an opinion. :)

In Singapore, especially our Malay community, the ladies are always being blamed when she is unable to conceive. This gives the husband an 'opportunity' to marry again. Sad to say, there are wives who give their approval for the man to remarry. I find this ridiculous. Women shouldn't be so weak as to give in to their husbands especially when he wants to marry again. Nobody likes to share their husband with another woman.

I feel that the couple should try other ways of getting pregnant. Consult a doctor for instance or the last resort would be an adoption.

My aunt was unable to conceive for years. They tried everything and resort to adoption. When the boy turned 2, my aunt was pregnant. I guess it's not time for her to conceive or maybe God was testing their patience. Who knows?…

that seems to be the way it happens alot, Nazreen.  they say that once the pressure is off to conceive, that is when you are most likely too.

I was told at a very young age that I would never have children, and if I did get pregnant, I would most likely not carry to term.  When I became pregnant I was obviously shocked.  So when I tried to become pregnant with my 2nd, I became concerned after a year of trying, that maybe my first baby was a fluke.  I talked to my doctor and we set a date to begin fertility treatments … it was a good 6 months away to give me time to go on a summer trip and lose some weight.  well, not even 2 months later I was BACK in my doctor's office telling her that the weightloss pills she had given me were making me sick … turns out it wasn't the pills, BUT MY 2nd BABY!

go figure!
