One of the most important things to remember is to communicate. Remember when you first fell in love and you felt like you would never run out of things to say? I read a quote the other day which said something to the effect of marriage is a long conversation that always seems too short.

miscommunication and lack of communication are signals of a marriage deteriorating!

So work towards it and make that extra effort from your side.

Marriage requires lots of patience, endurance and love and care. I think in order to have a successful marriage is to fully accept not just the good traits of the person but also accepting the bad traits as well. To be financially stable is also one of the important factor in marriage as well as taking care of the needs of both couple.

Marriage does not speak on paper alone but it is always have to be worked on.  Communication is a must and it should be well-maintained, that is good communication.  Communication is very important and as long as couples keep their communication intact, same goes for the marriage.  Love as well must be ever-present.

Can I add the following to the list?

- Be Understanding
- Be Forgiving

I do believe that misunderstandings and fights in a marriage cannot be totally prevented. When these happen, it is good to admit mistakes and say sorry but the other party should also be understanding and forgiving. Little things that cause misunderstandings should just be forgiven and forgotten. It should not be brought up again whenever we have fights in the future.

Nice additions there, Nazreen. A little give and take goes a long long way, that's for sure. And casting things up does nothing but bring up old hurts that are supposed to be long resolved or forgiven

I like the fact that coldplay mentioned work together in the house twice LOL. It's worth repeating :)
