Now I know how exhausted we mums get sometimes and let's be honest, you don't always feel like a romp after a long, tiring day. So if you could literally turn on your sex drive with the press of a button would you try it?

I kid you not. There really are medical research trials going on in this area.

Scientists in the UK are working on methods to stimulate the brain, specifically in the orbitofrontal cortex, the part of the brain that feels pleasure from eating and sex. According to The Telegraph, implantation of a chip into that area of the brain is expected to result in increased sexual pleasure. Previous studies in one woman with very low sex drive becoming one with a very active sexual appetite. However, the scientists reported, “She didn't like the sudden change, so the wiring in her head was removed.”

This article by Dr. Amy Tuteur is an obstetrician-gynecologist entitled Sex chips explains all.

I think hubby would like it!  He always wished I had an on/off switch for sex Wink

I guess I could see the sense in it. I have seen SO many marriages crash over sexual intimacy, which I personally find ridiculous.  I don't know that I could try it myself … maybe if it had a “money back guarantee” and didn't require surgery ???

Well at least you know it could be taken out again LOL.

I don't know, the whole idea seems really creepy to me. It's reminiscent of Stepford Wives! But then if I thought it was the only thing left for me to do to save my marriage, would I? Hmmm…but then what partner would want you to have to flick a switch for them to turn you on? Not the most ego-boosting of situations.

Hmmm…speaking of which, I came across an article online about watermelon which has the same effect as viagra.

Researchers say watermelon relaxes blood vessels, much like Viagra does, and may even increase libido.

“The more we study watermelons, the more we realize just how amazing a fruit it is in providing natural enhancers to the human body,” said Dr. Bhimu Patil, director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center in College Station.

Watermelon contains the nutrient citrulline. When watermelon is consumed, citrulline is converted to arginine. “Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it,” Patil says. “Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects.” He recommends storing the uncut watermelon at room temperature before eating for maximum health benefits.

What do you think of this, ladies? Should we suggest to our husbands to eat lots of watermelons? Tongue out

Here is my take on the situation, and hubby and I have argued this type of scenario MANY times …

if my husband is going to leave me, and the ONLY reason he can come up with is that he doesn't have enough sex, then I will let him walk out the door.  If our marriage is fine everywhere but in the bedroom (and only in his opinion), then bye!  He's not in it for the right reasons. There is so much more about marriage that is more important, IMO.

I never realized just how important this is to some people, but in the last 5 years I have seen a handful of couples divorce over sex … ??? … I just don't get it.
