Honey, corn syrup, molasses, syrups, raw, sugar, and brown and refined white sugars all promote tooth decay. Honey and corn syrup should not be given to infants during the first year of life. Botulism spores found in them can cause a serious food poisoning. Foods such as popcorn/nuts and seeds are not safe for children and should not be given to them because of risk of choking.

you should also avoid foods which are high in nitrates like spinach , green beans , salami and carrots.

Avoid the following foods to avoid choking:

  • Nuts (other than finely ground)
  • Peanut butter
  • Caramel candy
  • Gum
  • Whole grapes
  • Raw hard fruits and vegetables
  • Chunks of meat
  • Pieces of bacon
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Raisins
  • Popcorn

Some kids cant eat the glutten food, so make sure that the products is glutten free. In asia its quite hard to find a glutten free food, so I guess we must save some extra budget for the kids with a special needs.

One of my friends discovered  a few years ago he was celiac, which means he has to eat gluten free foods. What he found hardest was distinguishing if something was definitely safe or not. Celiac.com has a great list of safe gluten-free ingredients.

Hope the page is useful to someone. I know he loves the site and found it very helpful. Also, some of the biggest food chains keep lists on their websites or at their customer service desk in-store of what they stock that contains gluten for reference purposes. It's worth asking if you or a family member is affected by this and you're unsure of a particular product.

I also had no idea that honey wasn't good for babies. Upon further reading about honey, most health websites advise that honey and corn syrup can only be fed to babies after they're more than a year old. The reason for this is that honey and corn syrup both contain a toxic bacteria called Clostridium botulinum.

Adults or children over a year old can eat these because their bodies have built up an immunity to them. Babies however cannot because their digestive and immune systems aren't yet fully developed.
