Parents should be encouraged to provide with fresh bottles of formula that are reay to use every day. To avoid illness in infants, formula must be sanitized to keep them germ free.

- thoroughly wash bottles and nipples and remove all milk residues with a brush

-Sanitize bottles, nipples and utensils are atleast 3 or 4 months of age.

-if mixers or blenders are used, disassemble and thoroughly clean between use.

-Store bottles of formula in the refrigerator for more than 1-1/2 hours.

-Never reuse a bottle of formula or milk that has been offered to infant

It's very important to keep the bottles etc. clean! Pacifiers (dummies) should also be sterilised. I used to do mine all at once last thing at night so I'd know the minimum amount of time they'd been in the solution. I always had a spare couple soaking in it no matter when it was.

It's also important to change the disinfecting solution regularly as per the instructions and to check the teats for wear and tear regularly. The rubber can weaken and perforate over time and will need replaced.
