We are in the process of trying to choose colors for the baby's room.

Because he's a little guy.. blue is the obvious choice.. we have a couple of test paint pots but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for colors other than the “standard” blue?

Yes of course.

Blue sounds very cliched.

You should gor for yellow or a combination of yellow - blue or blue - green.

You can even get a wallpaper.

Sounds good??

thanks for the feedback coldplay - I was thinking along the lines of blue - green too.. just something a little different.  I could even have a seaside theme with blues and greens and colorful fish etc.  Just don't want the same old thing as everyone else!

Blue, yellow and green look wonderful together! Have you considered horizontal stripes painted on the wall? Combine these with these wonderful stick on white dots of varying shapse and sizes I found the other day make for a wonderful modern nursery that can grow with baby!

It is quite important to give the walls brighter look as the child is always attracted to brighter hues. For boys blue yellow and green are great option, if I am not wrong these all shades reflect the light, thus room gets much brighter appearance.Adding up of animals figures will make the room look all the more attractive to the baby as well the rest of the family.

Hello Julia!  Congratulations!!!  I'd say that blues and greens would look lovely, and there's lots you can do with those colours to create an under water/aquatic theme.  Perhaps some stenciling?  I know it's a bit of a cliche with nurseries, but you could add some brighter, contrasting colours (pinkos, yellows etc) by stenciling different coloured fish and things like jelly fish, shells etc.  I guess it depends on how much time you have though and what sorts of activities/interests you like..  Both myself and my partner love the sea, and so I'd go for this type of thing.
