How do you stay organized?

Do you use a day planner?  a small organizer in your purse?  Do you keep a calendar up on the fridge?  Maybe use a palm pilot?

I have an organizer I keep on me at all times.  I list all the practices, shows and doctor visits for the kids, as well as my own few appointments and my husband's.  It helps me stay a little more on top of things, but I have to admit that there are days I am not even organized enough to remember to write it down!

my youngest has a speech evaluation on thursday … I made the appointment in early november but JUST remembered to write it down.  Just call me scatterbrain :)

I stay organized by putting events in my mobile phone's calendar. I'm good at remembering things but sometimes I tend to forget especially when I have so many things to do on that day. I set all the important events as reminders. This helps me to remember things that I've got planned for the week.

I'm different at work though. I am really organize. I don't need any reminders. I make sure I complete all my work before leaving at the end of the day. I kept records of everything because I know that in case I'm not well, someone else who replace me would appreciate having all the information at their fingertips :)

I suffer from the procrastination disease ;)

I have used my mobile phone to alert me about certain activities, especially in the summer.  I get into a routine of after school activities when school is IN, but I lose all track of time during the summer months.

I envy you, Nazreen.  I work so hard to get organized, and I try to keep it going, but darned if nature doesn't take over!

I use an email reminder service since I'm online practically round the clock which is very handy and usually my trusty old kitchen calendar. I'm not as high tech as you guys. :)

Oh and my mum, LOL. She reminds me of things coming up because she knows I'm pretty scattered sometimes with a lot on my mind. I know what you mean about nature, diane! My best efforts can go awry because I get  distracted far too easily. I'm working on improving that though.

It's funny you say you're different at work, Nazreen. I was exactly like you when I worked outside the home - everything was done and in its place, recorded perfectly. I find though with working at home, I'm not nearly as well organized. I think a lot has to do with being physically away from your house. It's not as easy to jump up and throw some laundry in or change the beds when you're miles away!Your focus and mindset is on work alone.

There's too many ways to be distracted in the home if you don't discipline yourself enough and your family to leave you in peace when you're working. I often say to my son he'd not walk into my high street office and start chatting in the middle of my workday, would he? But I can't blame them, I'm as bad at letting myself get sidetracked.

I said the other day I want a cubicle for my Christmas. I was only half kidding LOL. I need to be out of sight to be out of mind to them… Laughing

I am seriously considering taking over the spare room but right now, it's got all the things in it I have nowhere else to put. Really I treat it like a glorified closet. And I'd need to move phone lines etc to the other side of the house but I'm tempted. It's small but would be ok. Right now there's one computer in the living room and one in my bedroom but I really think I need somewhere devoted just to that.

well, you could always move the hubby down to the spare room ;0)

It's been so long since I had a job that required me to be organized, I can't say that I was or wasn't!  I worked with children the last few years and as long as I remembered to write my report at the end of my shift I was fine.

I need to get my house re-organized … I have let piles of stuff accumulate, but I never seem to have the time I need to devote to it … maybe once I send the last child off to college :::sigh:::
