Infant furniture and equipment are designed to exacting specifications to protect children from harm. Newly manufactured items must meet special safety criteria set out by the Product safety Bureau. We must look for features and equipments that are not hazardous for our baby . We must take recommendations for supervision and use of this equipments .

1. Baby carriers or feeding seats

2. Back carriers

3. Cribs

4. Highchairs

5. Playpen

6. Strollers and carriages

7. Walkers

Did you know the program TIPP : it stands for The Injurt Prevention Program

When you buy a crib look for the following:

The slats should be no more than 2-3/8 inches apart.

The end panels should be solid, without decorative cutouts.

The lowered crib sides should be at least 9 inches above the mattress support to prevent the infant from falling out.

The drop sides should have a locking, hand-operated latch that will not release unintentionally.

Be very carefull before buying one. Your childs safety is in your hands!!

I have a friend who has offered us a crib for our new little guy.   It's probably about 8years old.. does anyone know if it would still fall within the safety guidelines or not?  I'm guessing they are changing all the time and I don't want to risk it.. although saving a few dollars on a new crib would really help the household budget out!
