A New Broom Sweeps Clean

Just as we have decorated for Christmas, we can have our New Year's broom as the official decoration to complete 2008.  The purpose of this broom, of course, is to sweep away all of last year's grudges and reservations and residual acts of unkindness.  You can then use it to clear away old dusty routines of tired ruts and dead end patterns which prevent you from a greater love of each other and yourself. It will help sweep away fears and angry memories and the pieces of broken dreams from your heart, making room for fresh dreams and a clean start for the New Year.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2009!

Today's Hogmanay in Scotland (Dec 31) and it always make me feel a little teary eyed thinking of my family there celebrating it without me. Everyone stays up to count down to The Bells (the stroke of midnight bringing in the New Year.) and then goes visiting family and friends with gifts in hand. Traditionally it's a lump of coal and a cake or bottle which represents both warmth and food in your home for the coming year. There's always a huge concert in Edinburgh that's usually televised so I'm hoping to find it on YouTube or something later.

Sounds like fun, Kay!  Ever try to make it back there to celebrate with them?

my resolutions for 2009 …

I vow to not lose weight this year.
I vow to be the meanest Mom to my kids.
I vow to not care when my husband gets home off the road.
I vow to never do laundry and fold and put away the clothes in a timely manner.
I vow to have a filthy house.

… this way, when I break them, it won't be something to feel guilty for ;)
may your high road and low road meet somewhere in the middle.

Wow, lots going on with you there, Nazreen! Remember to relax best you can and not get too anxious about either the move or trying for the baby. Good luck with both! And yes, tell us FIRST!!! )

Diane, no, I don't get back often. It's been about three years now. Not that I don't like to but it's so expensive. I really can't justify around $1200 each for a couple of weeks very often and 17 hours each way is very tiring. You spend the first few days just recovering from the trip. We talk all the time though so it's not too bad. I might have to sign up for your resolution list too LOL.
