I know I'm a new member in the Older Mom's community forum but I still have some suggestions to help improve our friendly forum. I hope it's okay with the rest of the moms.

1. I think that threads should be sorted from “latest” to the “oldest” and not the other way around. This is so that when members and visitors click on a forum section, they would see the latest updated thread first instead of the oldest.

2. Whenever I click on “Save New Post” or “Save New Topic” an error message always appears. The new post or thread will only be created when I click it again.

3. I think that there should also be a section for “Help and Suggestions” and also for “Admin Announcements”. I didn't know where to create this new thread for suggestions so I just made in under “Older Mom's Lounge”.

Opinions and suggestions are always welcome, Nazreen. That's what communities are all about. )

I agree on the sorting of the threads. I'm used to it being the opposite way round too with the latest at the top and find this way can be confusing. I'm not sure if that's an admin setting that can be adjusted though.

The error message I'd mentioned to Julia myself as well. With anything new, there are always bugs that take time to iron out. It's on the list. Thanks for the reminder. )

I can see the need for a Help/Admin Announcements folder since I could have mentioned the error message in there for others that are new like yourself to find.

Thanks again Nazreen! I don't have any answers for you myself but I'm sure Julia will shed light on them when she has a spare moment and something to report. )

Anyone finding the site slow to load today? I'm having trouble adding posts.

ETA Just  ignore me, I rebooted and it magically worked fine this time so it was at my end.

I hate it when that happens!  amazing what a difference re-booting makes, huh?  Wink

actually, this website does drag a little on my computer, but nothing to stress over … yet!

I just got this problem today.. it seems that I can't logoff from our community forum. When I clicked on the logout link, it gives me the error below. I had to totally close down my browser so I can be logged off.

Not Found, Error 404

The page you are looking for no longer exists. Perhaps you can find what you are looking for by searching the site archives by page, category, or month.

I got that error too.  I don't know if it's related, but I also seem to be logged into some pages, and logged out of others.  Usualy refreshing the page clears that up though.

Thanks, ladies! I noticed Julia had put up a new picture on the main page (don't miss the wee one in his Santa hat! :) ) so she may well have been tinkering at that time. I've not had that myself but will pass it on. :)

Wow! The baby's really cute. Just want to go and bite Julia's baby. Tongue out

By the way, I just noticed that the threads are already sorted from latest to the oldest! Thanks a lot Julia and Kay! At least this would make things a little bit better in the forums. Kiss

All credit goes to Julia, Nazreen -  it wasn't me. :) I like it much better that way too.

Thanks, Julia!

Here's another one. I had wanted to create a new thread in the Freebies section but I don't see the “Add a New Topic” link there.

Hmm…strange, Nazreen. As you can see, I can see it fine. Must be a permissions setting. I was wondering why I was all alone in there! :)

I'll advise Julia of that, thanks for the headsup. All the other folders are displaying the “Add a New Topic” fine for you I assume? The Mozart Colllection is great by the way, I'm really proud of that find. :D

funny, I was going to mention it too - I can't reply to posts in there either.  I figured it was an “informational” section

Kay, I've just checked all the sections in the forum and all are fine except for the 'Freebies' section. All the others has 'Add a New Topic' and 'Reply to Post' links.

Thanks for informing Julia and hope this will be resolved soon. Smile

Any updates on the issue regarding the Freebies section?

As I am unable to reply under the 'Freebies' section, I hope it's ok to do it here. I love both wallpapers, Kay! They are beautiful! In fact, I had set the 'Santa gazing in the mirror and seeing himself as a child' as my desktop wallpaper! Thanks for sharing! Wink

This is the link I'm referring to:

Nope, no updates I'm afraid as of yet. I know Julia's frenetically busy all the time and will get to it as soon as is physically possible. I'm glad you liked the Santa mirror one, I did too. ) Right now I have the calming blue river scene one on mine.

I'll be doing more soon so do put your wallpapers suggestions here in this thread for now if you have any until we get the permissions sorted in that folder.

If you want to add some Freebies threads of your own, create it in the Lounge and I'll move it into the Freebies section for you in the meantime after it's had a few days to get any questions/replies answered. ) Just make one first though please so I can test that it will accept it ok in that folder. If it doesn't we'll come up with something else. ) For now, I'd just bookmark any others you find and keep them up your sleeve for the future.

I meant to mention, I figured out today that you can use the quote function by doing it in the HTML side with blockquote tags. For anyone unfamiliar with that, here's how.

  1. Click the HTML button above in the text box.
  2. A HTML source editor box will pop up. Add <blockquote>then insert your quoted text in here and close it with another tag, not forgetting the extra “/”</blockquote>
  3. Hit “Update” at the bottom left. That will bring you back to the normal post window.
  4. Add anything else you want to say and save your post as normal. The quote should be there.
  5. Do a victory lap around the room for being so smart. :D

LOL, well obviously I didn't exactly rush to do that myself either diane. Lucky for you guys I'm so community minded and shared that otherwise I could have kept that all to myself and made you jealous. :p

Did I mention it's my birthday in two days btw? I expect cards and commiserations LOL.
