Being a mother is hard enough.  Mothering your children singlehandedly is much harder.  I admire the courage of those single mother who raise their children alone.  My deep appreciation goes to them.  I salute you single mothers for the courage and determination in rearing your children.  Tough job for tough moms!

I second that emotion! I tip my hat to you all. I'm curious and do have a question for any single moms here. Do you find you get much support from family or friends eg babysitting, emotional etc or do you more or less just get on with it yourself quite happily? My friend's a single mom and she finds it can be quite lonesome at times but she wouldn't trade her son for the world. Any suggestions on what I could tell her?

I am not a single mother but I try to help you with some suggestions for your friend . The greatest task for a single mother is to play both roles , mother and father for the child which is a big mistake in my opinion. No matter the sex of the child ,a boy or a girl equally needs a male figure to relate to and  by this I am not meaning that your friend should necessary marry with the first male she meet , but that she offer to her child a male model figure from her immediate family, a grandparent or an uncle , cousin , her brother maybe …anyway ,the idea is this male should spend more time with the child than the rest of the family .
