With 2009 just around the corner, thoughts of New Year's resolutions are spinning in my little corner of the world.  Ways to make myself a better person in the coming year … eat healthier, be active, make some time for ME!

Well, I stumbled across 3 resolutions for parents and thought I would share them with my OMC friends :)

1. promise to be positive

2. promise to be consistent

3. promise to have patience

And since we are on the topic … are resolutions made everywhere with the coming of a new year?  or is it just us Americans that tend to torture ourselves with promises of a better tomorrow so that we can beat ourselves over the head when we let them slip??  lol ;)

I guess so, Diane. We make resolutions in Singapore, too. But you know, whatever resolutions I made in the previous years, they all went down the drain. I never stick to any of them! Maybe my resolutions are not realistic enough and I tend to forget about them.

In 2009, I should list my resolutions down so I won't forget. Also, I need to make it a point to make them come true.

I think making them achievable is a BIG help, and also, not beating myself up for little slips would help me to get back on task again.  Mine are usually to work out at the gym or to lose weight … I can't say I haven't done those things, because I have, but it's a struggle.

I do like the parenting resolutions, I definitely could use some work in the area of patience!  :)

I'm not making them because I just berate myself when I fail. What I would like to do is lose some weight before summer, but I'm just saying like rather than it being a resolution. :)

ugh, I know what you mean!  Mine usually slip and fall away as well.  I try to keep them simpler now …

I resolve to work at being healthier, either in what I eat, or in being more active day to day

I will do for others when I can and will not guilt myself when I cannot
