This is one of the most tender stages and are to be dealt with all care and delicately.I am not an expert to comment, but quite experienced mom as I have groomed two kids. Most of the kids are almost similar, some cases are exceptional, but if we talk about majority of infants need to be breast fed upto the age of 8 to 10 months. The bottle feed can be discontinued little earlier also. As breast feed is quite good for the baby as well as the mum so it is fine if it is continued for longer period.

        Yeah this a proper method to start the process of weaning. If the child is graually introduced to other feeds along with milk, it is easier for them to give up bottled feed or breast milk.My doctor guided me all through weaning stage.

Weaning when not correctly done has been blamed for certain behavioral problems which may persists up to adulthood.

Really? I've never heard of that. In animals like puppies, yes, but in children? I'd be interested in seeing some clinical evidence of that.

My son was only four months old when I started introducing baby foods. I'd resisted it as what I'd read said he should be closer to 6 or 7 months. A family friend who's a nurse in a maternity hospital told me that when a baby's no longer satisfied with the milk you're giving it and wanting closer and closer feeding times, then it's time to start replacing the milk gradually. The poor little guy was hungry and I was thinking ” nope, he's too young to be ready for that so he can't be…”. I think that was one of my first mommy goof ups.

I believe the right time to wean a child based on my experienced is when they are 5-6 monts old. At first, it is a hard task but as time goes, he wil learn and get adapt to it. There will be some attitude changes, bare with it, it will be fine.
