The Good Egg
The Sydney Morning Herald reports on egg-freezing. For many of us who have dealt with the biological clock quandary, freezing your eggs may prove to be the solution to that ticking problem.
Although not widely available in Australia yet, I’m expecting that when the Eggs-on_ice train hits town, there are going to be many women who see it as a great way to extend their reproductive years. Egg donation has really been the best option for those of us that have wanted kids, but found ourselves on the wrong side of menopause.
For me, having a ticking biological clock meant the death of a significant relationship (he wasn’t ready for kids).. if I had been able to freeze my eggs it could have meant a different outcome. Luckily I met the love of my life soon after that messy breakup and as we were on the same page regarding children, I’m lucky.
I’m sure there are an army of scientists working on the whole egg-freezing problem as I type.. biological time-bomb destruction would prove to be a very lucrative market indeed.
